I have a friend who's going blind.
Ever so slowly, without haste,

but surely,
He's going blind.
He's storing up the colors of the world around,
The faces of the ones he loves,
The Children,
Animals, Sunsets and Mountains...
For the time when he will see them

only from within,
When he will see the way we see...
No longer...
And somehow, deep within his heart he knows
that there will be a time

when he and all he loves
Will see much more

than any man could dream of.
I have a friend who's going deaf.
Ever so slowly, without haste,

but surely,
She's going deaf.
She's storing up the sounds of the world around,
Babbling brooks, songs,
The music laughter of the children,
Thunder, rain upon the roof,
A bird's song,
The whisper of, "I love you!"
For the time when she will hear them

only from within,
When she will hear the way we hear...
No longer...
And somehow, deep within her heart she knows
that there will be a time

when she and all she loves
Will hear much more

than any woman could dream of.
I have a friend who's going to die.
Ever so slowly, without haste,

but surely,
He's going to die.
He's storing up the feelings of his life,
Pain, Joy,
Struggles and victories,
And all that he has done,
The children of his life,
His past,
Every experience that merits
his taking on the journey...
For the time when he will feel them
only from within,
when he will live the way we live no longer.
And somehow, deep within his heart he knows
that there will be a time when
he and all he loves
will live much more
than any man could dream of.
My friend is speaking softly now...
Ever so slowly...without haste...but surely..
From deep within..........
ME.
